We attended a property in Kimberworth, Rotherham, on 23 October 2026, where the customer’s rear uPVC door had jammed shut. The multipoint locking mechanism had failed with the door in the closed position, leaving the customer unable to open it.
The door was approximately 20 years old, so the original Lockmaster mechanism had certainly done well.
Opening the jammed uPVC door without damage
Using specialist locksmith techniques, we released the failed mechanism and opened the door without damage.
After inspecting the original Lockmaster multipoint locking mechanism, we decided to replace the complete mechanism.
Why replace the complete mechanism rather than just the gearbox?
Although replacing only the gearbox can sometimes be cheaper, I believe a complete replacement offers better long-term value on a 20-year-old mechanism.
It means the customer isn’t left relying on other locking components that have already worn for two decades.
We fitted the new Lockmaster mechanism and realigned the door, adjusting the keeps to ensure smooth locking and unlocking.
The rear door now operates correctly, and the repair comes with our two-year parts and labour guarantee.
If your uPVC door won’t open, has jammed shut or has become difficult to lock, our uPVC door repair service in Rotherham can help.

Stephen attended my property 23/10/2026. Upvc door mechanism stuck in door closed position. Stephen was prompt in his response to my call. His guidance on the problem and his estimated price prior to carrying out the work matched the job on the day. Stephens honesty and expertise were greatly appreciated. Door opened and mechanism replaced promptly and efficiently all back in working order. I have no hesitation in recommending SF Locksmith.
